the mental fatigue is dependant on lasting a lifetime
locked in the motions of a gridlocked jam
with a grille that steams from a cracked block.
when the gears strip of their teeth and the pistons cease to churn
the mind sputters, misfires, backfires and dies.
you spend a lifetime thinking down and talking down regrets
the good times never spent
and how you could have gone but you said you can't.
it's all relative so you pull the brake, cut the wheel and spin;
hands off the wheel, eyes off the road, mind off the map.
just because you let go doesn't absolve you of where you've been.
